I am 15 years old and have no prior race experience. My Grandpa, Dad, and I built a 1988 Chevy Monte Carlo Pro Stock for me to race at Houston Motorsports Park, a 3/8's mile asphalt track in Houston, Texas

So far I have participated in a total of five race events. I finished 6th in my first feature race and followed up with two wins, and two second place finishes since then. In addition to the feature wins I also have three heat race wins and two seconds. Unfortunately I was DQ my very first heat race (fist race of any kind ever) for not wearing my gloves. Needless to say I have not forgotten them since! I have accumulated 3 pole awards, all in a row, since I have started racing and I am currently top 5 in points despite missing the first two races of the season because we didn't have the car ready.

My dad, Chris Schild, also races. He currently competes in the Texas Super Racing Series. He is the all time feature win leader in series history and also holds the record for most pole awards in series history. He won the TSRS series championship in 2005. In addition he has won track championships at Houston Motorsports Park and Battleground Speedway. My Grandpa, Teddy Schild, was an accomplished dirt track racer in the 80's and 90's. He has had many wins and track championships throughout his career. His passion for racing has been what inspires me to race today.

My car is a 1988 Monte Carlo, powered by 350 crate motor using Royal Purple oil. It has a performance distributor and KRC Power steering system purchased from Day Motorsports. It is fueled by a VDL Carburetor. The car has a Ford 9 inch rear end from Quick Performance and rides on Votlland springs with Bilstein shocks.

I am lucky to have the support of some local businesses. They are Double Oak Construction, Splashwater Systems, NTL Distributing (Royal Purple), Yellow Rose Real Estate, Vinyl Graphics, and TWS Shop. I also have the support of Mrs. Geri and the late Jody Williams from Royal Purple.

My goals are to finish up this year with another win or two and get rookie of the year. I will also do some testing in my dad's late model in preparation for moving up next race season. I am excited to have the opportunity to move up into a late model and start running different tracks. Of course, like all young drivers, I want to make it to NASCAR to race among the best of the best.

So what got me into racing? I got into racing because my dad has been racing ever since I could remember. I was always trying to help out and do what I could. My Grandpa, uncle Brain and several cousins race too, so I guess it's in my blood. When I was 14 my Grandpa bought my first car. Him and I stripped the car down to bare frame and started to rebuild from there. My dad was also a big help building the car when he could. It took us a long time because my grandpa wanted me to learn everything about my car, how it works, putting it back together, and all little details. It's good knowledge to know and I take pride in building my car. My grandpa would show me how to do something then make me do it to get the experience. Building the car was a great learning experience, not to mention time well spent with my grandpa. It took a long time but it was all worth it when I first got to drive it. I have a lot of pride in knowing I can not only drive but also build the car. If there is a problem I feel confident I can fix it.

As a sophomore in High School in PREAP classes I have lots of projects and home work. I plan to go to college and get a degree in engineering. I have started looking at different school options. After homework I usually help out with the family business or hangout with my siblings. I like going to the shooting range with my dad, golfing with my step dad, boating and tubing with my uncles, texting, the occasional video game, sports, and just about anything the normal teenager does.

Without the help of my Grandpa, my dad, and my worrying mom, I would not be able to do what I enjoy and love most, racing!
