Local Youth Excels at Houston Motorsports Park High school sophomore, 15 year old Johnathon Schild, is burning up the 3/8 mile Asphalt track at Houston Motorsports Park. JT, as he's known by at the track, started racing a pro stock car in May 2009 and has put up quite a record for a rookie. After a sixth place finish his first night out, he has two wins and two seconds in Feature events, and three wins and two seconds in heat events. He has also captured fast time three times. JT has become a fan favorite and has the respect of his fellow racers, track owners and track officials. Lynn Hardy, last year's pro stock champ, after finishing 2nd to JT said to his Grandpa Teddy Schild, "Hey this kid is the real deal."
Many long time circle track racers in the Houston area echo Lynn's comment. JT has been around racing most of his life, helping his dad Chris Schild, who races in The Texas Super Racing Series. Racing is a family sport and its shows with his crew which includes his grandpa Teddy, dad Chris and cousins Tyler and Quinton Schild. His mom, Rhonda Getschman, pretty much heads up promotions which has a sea of red shirts with JT's #25 dominating a portion of the stands. JT has had help from local businesses and wants to thank Double Oak Construction, Yellow Rose Real Estate, Waller Vinyl Graphics, TWS Shop, and Geri and the late Jody Williams of Royal Purple Oil.
JT's ambitions are high and plans to move up next year to the Texas Super Racing Series or Houston Fiesta Super Late Models. JT is the son of Chris Schild of Leander, Tx and Rhonda Getschman of Waller and the grandson of Teddy and Virginia Schild and Ronney and Brenda Bundick of Waller.
